Estimates are directional market benchmarks for 2026 planning, not a formal quote. In-house cost assumes mid-market base pay for the selected market plus a 30% employer overhead when enabled. Egypt offshore cost is a fully loaded monthly figure that includes pay, management, equipment, and compliance. Your exact numbers depend on scope, seniority, and hours.

How the calculator works

The calculator answers one question that every operator asks before they hire: what will this role actually cost, and how much do I save by hiring offshore from Egypt instead of locally? It compares two fully loaded numbers so you are not fooled by a base-salary figure that hides the real cost of an in-house employee.

For the in-house side, we start with a mid-level base salary for the role in your chosen market. Then, when employer overhead is enabled, we add 30% on top to reflect the parts of a hire that never show up on the offer letter: payroll taxes, health and retirement benefits, paid time off, equipment, software seats, office or co-working space, and the cost of recruiting. In most US and European markets the true cost of an employee lands between 1.25 and 1.4 times their base salary, so 30% is a conservative, defensible midpoint.

For the Egypt side, we use a fully loaded monthly cost for a dedicated remote hire of the same role and seniority. That figure already includes pay, local compliance, equipment, and the management layer, so there is very little to add on top. This is why the Egypt column is closer to your all-in cost while the in-house column needs the overhead adjustment to be a fair comparison.

Experience level scales both sides together. A senior hire costs more in Egypt and more in your home market, so the savings percentage stays roughly stable while the absolute dollar savings grow with seniority. The market selector adjusts only the local salary, since a London or Toronto salary differs from a US one while the Egypt rate stays the same.

Why Egyptian talent costs less without cutting quality

The savings come from economics, not from a quality trade-off. Egypt has one of the largest young, university-educated workforces in the Middle East and Africa, with strong pipelines in software engineering, finance, customer operations, and data work. English is taught from an early age and is the working language across most of the technology and business-services sector, so written and spoken communication is rarely a barrier.

What is different is the local cost of living and the exchange rate. A competitive, well-above-market wage in Cairo or Alexandria still translates to a fraction of a US or Western European salary. You are not paying less for less skill. You are paying a strong local wage plus a service margin, and that total is still far below what the same role costs at home.

Time zone is the other quiet advantage. Egypt runs on EET, which gives a full working-day overlap with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, a solid morning overlap with US Eastern time, and a workable window with US Pacific. That overlap is wider than what you get from many South and Southeast Asian locations, which makes real-time collaboration, standups, and same-day turnarounds far easier. How to hire offshore staff from Egypt

  1. Define the role and the outcome. Write down the three to five recurring deliverables you need, the tools involved, and the hours of overlap that matter. A clear brief is the single biggest driver of a fast, accurate match.
  2. Set a budget with this calculator. Use the numbers above to anchor on a realistic monthly cost so internal approval is quick and expectations are aligned.
  3. Review vetted candidates. Hire Nile screens for skills, English fluency, and reliability, then shares a shortlist with real rates rather than a wall of resumes.
  4. Run a working interview. Test the candidate on a realistic task or scenario, not trivia. This is the best predictor of day-to-day performance.
  5. Onboard with one owner and clear SOPs. Document the first month of work, assign a single point of contact, and set a weekly cadence so the hire ramps fast.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire offshore staff from Egypt?

A dedicated full-time hire from Egypt typically runs from about $1,100 per month for entry-level admin and data roles to $4,300 per month and up for senior engineering roles like DevOps. These are fully loaded figures that cover pay, management, equipment, and compliance, so there is no separate payroll tax, benefits, or recruiting cost on top.

How much can I save by hiring from Egypt instead of the US?

Most teams save between 55% and 75% versus a comparable in-house hire in the United States once employer overhead is included. A mid-level full-stack developer that costs roughly $149,500 per year fully loaded in the US runs about $45,600 per year from Egypt, a saving of more than $100,000 annually.

Why is Egyptian talent less expensive than US or European talent?

The cost gap comes from a lower local cost of living and currency exchange, not from lower skill. Egypt has a large, university-educated, English-fluent workforce in engineering, finance, and customer operations. You pay a competitive Egyptian-market wage plus a service margin, which is still far below a US or Western European salary.

Are these salary numbers accurate for my exact role?

The calculator gives directional 2026 market benchmarks to help you size a budget. Your exact rate depends on seniority, niche skills, language requirements, hours of overlap, and tools. Send us your role brief and we will share vetted candidates with real rates within a few business days.

Does the Egypt cost include benefits, equipment, and payroll?

Yes. The Egypt figures in this tool are fully loaded. Hire Nile handles payroll, local compliance, equipment, and ongoing management, so the monthly cost you see is close to your all-in cost. With an in-house hire you would add roughly 30% on top of base salary for those same items.

What is the time zone overlap with Egypt?

Egypt runs on EET (UTC+2 to UTC+3). That gives a full overlap with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, a strong morning overlap with US Eastern time, and a workable few hours with US Pacific time. Most teams keep four or more hours of live overlap for standups and real-time work.
